Up to $75,000 for Research

The Getty Scholar and Visiting Scholar Grants are awarded yearly to scholars, artists or writers working on projects related to a specific theme designated by the institution. Getty Scholars are in residence for a year and receive a maximum stipend of $75,000, an office, research assistant, airfare to Los Angeles, an apartment, and health benefits. Visiting Scholars are in residence for three months and receive a maximum stipend of $10,500, an office, research assistant, airfare to Los Angeles, and an apartment. Contact J. Up to $22,000 for Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships

Pre-doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships provide support for emerging scholars to complete work on projects related to the Getty Research Institute’s annual theme. Recipients are in residence at the Getty Research Institute, where they pursue research to complete their dissertations or to expand them for publication. Pre-doctoral fellowship applicants must have advanced to candidacy and expect to complete their dissertations during the fellowship period. Over $31,000 to Fund Research in Conservation

The Conservation Guest Scholar Program at the Getty Conservation Institute supports new ideas and perspectives in the field of conservation, with an emphasis on the visual arts including sites, buildings, and objects and the theoretical underpinnings of the field. These grants are for established conservators, scientists, and professionals who have attained distinction in conservation and allied fields. Conservation Guest Scholars are in residence at the Getty Center for three to nine consecutive months. A monthly stipend of $3,500 is awarded, prorated to the actual dates of residency, up to a maximum of $31,500. In addition to the stipend, the grant also includes a workstation at the Conservation Institute, research assistance, airfare to Los Angeles, an apartment in the Getty scholar housing complex, and health benefits.
