$2,000 for Students Studying in Restaurant or Food Service Programs

Undergraduate Merit Scholarship for College Students provides $2,000 awards for undergraduate students pursuing a certificate, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in a restaurant/ foodservice-related program. Applicants must have a minimum 2.75 GPA, have completed at least one term of a two- to four-year degree program, and have a minimum of 750 hours of work experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Sallie Mae Fund Unmet Need Scholarship Program applicants must have a cumulative GPA between 2.5 and 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or GED average test score between 42 and 52. Must be a U.S. citizen and have a family adjusted gross income for calendar year 2003 of $30,000 or less. Applicant must demonstrate unmet financial need of more than $1,000 after the financial aid award package has been determined. Must be a high school senior or graduate planning to enroll or already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited post secondary institution. Application Deadline is May 31, 2004. Scholarship awards, ranging from $1,000 to $3,800.
