Financial Incentives for Energy Improvements to Businesses
Emerald People’s Utility District (EPUD) offers financial incentives for its commercial customers to increase the energy efficiency of their facilities with three separate rebate programs. Customers who are planning to replace old motors that need rewinding, are at the end of their useful life, or are oversized can take advantage of the Motor Rebate Program. Through their Lighting Retrofit Rebate Program, EPUD will evaluate their customers’ existing lighting systems to determine if there is an opportunity to improve their efficiency and quality. EPUD will then make recommendations for improvements, estimate the rebate they will contribute, and perform an economic analysis to see if it is cost effective for the customer to implement the project. Efficiency improvements not covered by the two rebates above can receive financial assistance from EPUD through their Custom Process Improvements Rebate Program. Through this program, EPUD will visit the customer’s facility and make recommendations for equipment/process improvements, conduct economic analyses and offer financial assistance. Past projects have included adjustable speed drives on kilns and boilers, air compressor control upgrades, and refrigeration system upgrades.
